This art quilt depicts a group of blue herons resting at sun down. It is the first quilt in Diane's collection using a freestyle piecing technique. The strong color contrasts are dramatic. The artist quilted this piece.

A colorful group of flamingos enjoy the morning. Festive tropical colors are used. Pink shades are reflected in the wading pool and scattered in the background with shades of aqua and turquoise.

High Stepper

Frequent trips to the carousel inspired this whimsical quilt. Gold lame and metallic thread add glitz and ornamentation to this fanciful carousel horse. Complementary colors of coral and orange are striking with the rich hues of royal blue and turquoise.

Japanese Girl

This art quilt is a favorite of the artist. It commemorates her trip to Japan and was inspired by a photo her daughter took. Delicate beading highlights the cherry blossoms and the jewels in her hair. “Japanese Girl” won Honorable Mention in 2006 at Road to California Quilt Show. It has also been on exhibit at Traditions Transformed Contemporary Quilt Show at the Joan Mondale Gallery, Textile Center, Minneapolis MN.

Ascending at Dawn

This art quilt was inspired by a local Hot Air Balloon Festival which depicts balloons ascending in the early dawn. It was a semi-finalist in the 2006 AQS Paducah Quilt Show in Kentucky. It is printed in the Show Catalog, page 99.

Proud Peacock

This is a strong graphic design representing the essence of the male peacock displaying his colors. A full spectrum of analogous cool colors is used in a variety of batiks, silk dupioni, and other coordinating fabrics. The crown or topnotch is embellished by the addition of elegant beading. Eva Studley professionally quilted this piece.

Paradise

A Bird of Paradise still blooms in the afterglow of a beautiful sunset. This quilt transports the viewer to a peaceful beach in "Paradise". Vibrant fabrics coordinate with batiks and silk dupioni. Fringe detail completes the scraggly look on the trunk of the palm tree.
